I've been working on visual tweaks for the website and also now you can click on a picture to get a larger view. Go ahead try it.

I've got a mostly complete version of this layout done. You can see the sink, propane stove and refrigerator in the kitchen now. The sink is a 15"x15"x7.5" "Bar Sink" that I noticed while walking through a Lowes. Seems to fit nicely.

The propane stove is a 2 burner model made by Atwood and the refrigerator is a 4.4 cu ft model made by Danby, saw this at Compact Appliance. I've been thinking it would be a good idea to have extra space for frozen foods so I've found the closet can accept a small cube freezer of 1.5 cu ft. This one's made by EdgeStar, saw it at Compact Appliance. A small deficiency of these refrigerators is their venting requirement, in that they need to be spaced around 2 - 4 inches from any walls. There are "undercounter" refrigerators that are designed without this requirement but they're more expensive.

You can now see some shelving action going on in the living area. I'm thinking shelves of between 6" - 9" deep with 8" of vertical space for each section are some good dimensions.

If you read my previous update you'd seen I'm considering an alternate layout. I've been working on a SketchUp of that floorplan too and I'll post it with a comparison to this one when I'm done.

This is all I got for now, keep checking back for updates, thanks for reading.

An Alternate Floorplan

AlternateFloorplan
Hello ya'll. Here's a sketch of an alternate floorplan. This design makes for a much more open floorplan, but with a downside, no good spot for an air conditioner. I've reduced the size of the desk and windows, making room for some shelving in the living area. I'll probably continue with the original design but want to consider other possibilities.

Here’s an updated view of the floorplan showing a few more details. You can now see the door swing openings and the shower stall which is 32" x 32". In the living area now is a Home Reserve loveseat. These sound really great, easy to assemble, super tough, storage compartments and they don't cost too much. If anyone has any opinions about them let
me know please.

I tossed in a flat-screen monitor of unspecific size. Thinking something between 24" - 32".

I want to thank David Neeley for lots of input and ideas. He gave the great idea of putting hinges on the desk so it can fold down flat against the wall. I believe this will gain about 9 square feet of floor space. This would make the storage cabinet I was planning under the desk be a modular/moveable unit, but would be well worth it.

I also redid all the pictures. Next I'll contemplate the size of the living area windows, possibly narrowing them a few inches. Thanks for reading.

The Floorplan

FloorPlan
Here is the floor-plan, based on the Tumbleweed Tarleton. I’ve instead designed the total deck to be 7’7” x 16’7” so that after the thickness of the wall studs are factored in you are left with a solid 7’ x 16’ of floor space. I’m not yet sure if this is possible given the need to build around the trailer wheels and also this only leaves 5” of free space before you hit the 8’ legal maximum width. If anyone has any advice send me a message on the Contact page.

The front door is on the west side in this picture but instead of being centered is moved to the right edge. This leaves a closet to the left after entering, and then a 7’ x 7’ living space with a 6’ desk. I’ve designed the windows on the desk wall narrow for two reasons. To reduce the solar gain on that side of the house, and to accommodate a flat-screen monitor. I’d like a small sofa to occupy the other side of the living area. Two large windows are on the opposite wall which, I believe, means that house side should face north or east in hot climates.

Next is the kitchen, bathroom and sleeping loft, pretty much the same as the original design.
Downside of my modified design is the loss of some shelving space in the living area. This could be compensated for by extending the house length to 18’. I’ve decided not to include the covered porch so as to keep the design simpler, however, I envision constructing a deck after the house is in place. I also think it would be cool to design a retractable awning, but it would have to be unobtrusive
when folded.
